The Sunnyside Arms Gazette's Over Easy column is taken over today by our head-in-the-clouds, mystery loving, BETSYTalks-giving, quirky and sluethy, on-the-fly event planning, resident specialist of knowing about all things creative, the one and only Betsy Ross!

I. Am. So. Excited!
Me, Betsy Ross, a WRITER! My first time as a real published author! When do I receive my Pulitzer or Nobel Prize in Literature? Harold mentioned something about getting one. He got one for his 11-page book, “Sniff,” last spring. Really was a thrillingly BORING read. My post won't be boring. I Promise! KEEP READING!
This Covid-19 Business, What A Bummer, Right?

There have been some major adjustments in the day-to-day functioning of Sunnyside Arms, but it’s nothing I cannot adapt to! Agnes has been holding daily Zoom meetings (for reasons I’m still trying to understand), so I have been using that time to work on my virtual hide and seek gaming skills. I’ve done it SO many times now that Agnes has chiseled out two minutes of her “VERY IMPORTANT MEETING TIME” for seeking!
Actually, it's more like guessing where I’m currently hiding. I have lost every single round. Can you believe that? I guess I am limited by how far the WIFI reaches in my room. I’ll win the next one! I’ll be hiding behind Agnes’ desk, behind the red tape. You know, where she makes everybody stand to talk to her even in non-Covid-19 times. She’ll certainly never figure it out. But maybe she will! Shhh! DON'T TELL HER!
Popular BETSYTalks Continue with Easter Theme or Exercise

With Easter right around the corner, in addition to planning all of the games, entertainment and decor for the Sunnyside Arms BIG EASTER EVENT (if it even happens this year!), I have been holding my ever-popular BETSYTalks in the recreation room. Sometimes we just end up doing Tae Bo. But not always. So far this month, I have given two BETSYTalks on the history of Easter, fun facts included. Did you know that Easter bunnies aren’t always chocolate? Anyway, my point is this: I’ll be holding Sunnyside Arms’ most scientific, most inquisitive, most mind blowing BETSYTalk ever on Easter morning (before the BIG EASTER EVENT, if it happens). Can you guess what it is about? No? Yes? Well, I’ll just tell you! The topic is “How Does a Rabbit Lay a Colored Egg?” Is your mind blown? If not, it will be!
So, if you’re reading this, join us at Sunnyside Arms Retirement Community Easter morning, on the front lawn, where you can listen to me yell my BETSYTalk from a second story window! (This is the plan Covid-19 or NOT!) Please note if you attend, you will be required to wear a period petticoat bottom (CRAFTED BY ME!) to insure everyone remains at least six feet away from one another.

The Real Gift to Everyone at Sunnyside Arms
Speaking of social distancing, it has been a real gift to everyone at Sunnyside Arms except Harold. He’s been struggling with not being able to sniff the ladies around here. Seeing him suffer gave me an idea for how to help him out! For Easter this year, Harold will be on the hunt for scented paper inside plastic eggs (while the rest of us look for candy filled eggs)! Harold’s special scent-filled Easter egg hunt was made possible by all the female residents and staff here at Sunnyside Arms who were kind enough to offer papers coated in various perfumes, hair chemicals, and cleaning chemicals. Why, Ms. Daphne even donated some spices from her secret spices box for Harold to find and sniff!

Easter Party Pastel Pink Hair Piled Up In The Air

This Easter, I will be displaying some serious seasonal pastel coloring in my hair, thanks to Tiffani with an “i.” Don’t worry; we’ll be at least 10 feet apart the entire time. I ordered a paintball gun for her to use…just load up the paint balls and fire away! Agnes said I wasn’t allowed to get my hair colored that way because it’s not safe. But it’s safe for me to leave my marbles on the floor…SO, yeah. I am going for it!
You know what else I am going for? A period appropriate hairdo for my Easter morning BETSYTalk. I told Agnes not to get her panties all up in a bunch about it because I provided Tiffani with an “i" with a picture of how I want it to look, so she can make me a YouTube video showing me how to do it myself. She has time. I am SO EXCITED! I have never curled my hair before, only ribbons. Can't be too different. Just run the hair along the edge of the scissors...and VOILA! Ringlets!
That is all I have to report on for now! I know this was a thrilling read so please CAST YOUR VOTE for me in the 2020 Nobel Pulitzer Awards for Literature!
About our Guest Reporter: Betsy Ross is the youngest, and by far, the most…interesting individual at Sunnyside Arms. Her blissful ignorance about everything in life in general is both endearing and alarming but she somehow survives each day. Betsy is a lover of animals, crafts, and constantly trying to figure out Agnes’ last name. As of print, Agnes’ last name is still a mystery.
